Creative Fibre Festival 2012 will be held in the Marlborough Convention Centre, Blenheim, New Zealand, from midday Thursday 26th April to midday Sunday 29th April 2012.
The Creative Fibre Festival is held annually at a different location throughout New Zealand, mostly in larger centres. This will be the first time it has been held in Blenheim. It is held on behalf of the national Creative Fibre body, an incorporated society whose aims are “to foster interest in, develop, and promote the cultural activities of spinning, weaving, felting, knitting, dyeing, flax work, crochet, freeform fibre art, and all other allied crafts pertaining to the use of fibres.”
Marlborough’s Festival will offer an extensive Creative Learning programme incorporating a wide range of presentations on fibre-related topics and post-Festival workshops with the two overseas tutors – Kim Thittichai from England and Karen Selk from Canada.
The Festival will also feature Creative Fibre’s National Exhibition at the Millennium Public Art Gallery, a Trades Hall, associated smaller exhibitions throughout Blenheim, and a range of other activities. Customised tours will be available for registrants and their partners.
